This is an exceptional opportunity to join the transformational social service agency of a community-based Melbourne institution, which for over 80 years has offered hope and support to the vulnerable and marginalised; responding to the changing needs of the community with a commitment to addressing social disadvantage. 

Reporting to the Donor Relations Manager, and as a member of a dynamic Communications, Fundraising & Marketing team, the Donor Relations Officer will support delivery of this high-impact organisation’s Donor Relations Strategy. This is an exciting and rare opportunity, for an ambitious fundraising professional at the trajectory of their career, to enjoy hands-on  implementation of donor care activities and events, including stewardship of a portfolio of mid-level donors, prospects and fundraisers.


This dynamic new role demands someone with a genuine passion for relationship fundraising and the donor experience, who along with knowledge and application of contemporary fundraising trends and strategies, brings foundation skill-sets across - but not limited to - Direct Mail campaigns, CRM administration and Events. The ability to communicate, influence and engage high-level stakeholders towards a rewarding philanthropic path, in collaboration with  an engaged team,  will be highly valued.

About the organisation

Baptcare Affordable Housing Ltd (BAH) is a subsidiary company of Baptcare, the welfare and aged care agency of the Baptist Union of Victoria.   BAH operates as a Not-For-Profit Housing Provider, registered by the Registrar of Housing Agencies under the Housing Act 1983.

The key objectives of BAH include a commitment to:

·         Providing and/or managing well-maintained affordable housing.

·         Facilitating tenancy management which supports vulnerable tenants and allows households to have a say in the way their housing is managed.

·         Co-operating in place management strategies that build community.

·         Partnering with Baptcare and other agencies to ensure tenants’ needs are adequately met.


BAH currently has a strategy to provide and/or manage up to 500 properties by the year 2020.

About the Board

·         Current Board size:               Currently 5 Directors.  2 vacancies

·         Board Meeting location:     Camberwell

About the vacancy

·         This is a voluntary position with expenses reimbursed.

·         BAH seeks to appoint two independent non-executive Directors.

·         The role requires attending approximately 7 board meetings per year, during the evening. In addition it may be necessary to take part in monthly conference calls and/or occasional weekend workshops.

As a skills-based Board and in line with current specific requirements, candidates with skills in at least one of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

·         Experience in the Community Housing or Social/Affordable-Housing Sector

·         Marketing and/or PR Advertising

·         Finance

·         Property Development

Educational requirements

ESSENTIAL - Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field with significant industry experience

DESIRABLE - Successful completion of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course

Other attributes 

Active involvement in a local church community and an understanding of Baptist values and faith.
