The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) is the highly regarded professional organisation for 6,000 specialist Anaesthetists and 1,500 trainees, and one of the region's largest specialist medical colleges. ANZCA, along with its Faculty of Pain Medicine, is responsible for the training, examination and specialist accreditation of Anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists, as well as fostering standards of clinical

safety and quality patient care in Australia, New Zealand, south-east Asia and South Pacific island countries.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead policy development, AMC accreditation of the ANZCA training program, development of submissions, consulting on workforce issues and the review of professional documents.

The position is also responsible for developing external stakeholder relationships. This includes working with the Australian Government and Department of Health to deliver agreed project aims and activities under the

Specialist Training Program, as well as regulatory bodies, other medical colleges and key stakeholders.

 

This senior position demands a current understanding of health policy and the health sector, high level analytical skills, and extensive experience in a senior policy or government relations role. Managing a small multidisciplinary team, you will combine your strategic acumen, strong operational management experience and leadership ability to ensure that the Policy Unit provides expert advice and support at a senior level to Council

committees and working groups. You should be a team player with a ‘can do’ approach, who can communicate and engage positively at every level with diverse stakeholder groups. Appropriate tertiary qualifications and highly

developed written skills are essential in this stimulating, professional environment, conveniently located at ANZCA’s landmark office in St Kilda Road, Melbourne.
