Professional Experience

Shortly after graduating from Monash University in 1999, Rick began his career in the Information Management sector with Infotrieve Australia Pty Ltd servicing government agencies, education, not-for-profit and corporate sectors; including blue chip pharmaceutical, legal and consulting firms.

Over 9 years, he played an integral and diverse role, encompassing research, partnerships and key account management, recruitment and human resource management.

Having built a valuable portfolio of clients and developed long standing relationships, Rick gained an insight into the invaluable work many of them delivered to the community. This prompted a transition to the NFP sector as a professional fundraiser, applying a passion for building and stewarding long-term relationships.

Joining Victoria University in 2009, Rick served as a member of the Advancement Office for five years, working across a full spectrum of fundraising channels including trusts & foundations, engaging & developing community, and corporate partnerships. He was integral in developing the University’s workplace giving program and stewarding as well as building its alumni donor base.

In 2014, after having built key relationships within the NFP, research and health sectors, Rick accepted a new opportunity as Fundraising Coordinator and Community Fundraising Manager with Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria. In addition to coordinating the trust and foundation program, Rick also coordinated the trust and foundation program and was fortunate to be a key member of the team delivering the organisation’s 2014 Make a Move advocacy campaign, lobbying the government for greater funding to musculoskeletal health. His role as Community Fundraising Manager exposed him to face to face and peer fundraising in support of Victoria’s 1.5 million people living with a musculoskeletal condition.

As a Senior Consultant with Dakin Mayers Rick brings a wealth of practical experience in the not-for-profit and education sectors.
