The Salvation Army (TSA) is a Christian movement dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus, through caring for people, creating faith pathways, building healthy communities and working for justice. The Territorial Public Relations Department is charged with raising a significant proportion of the financial resources required to sustain and strengthen the various social programmes and services offered across the Australia Southern Territory.

Reporting to the Territorial Public Relations Secretary, the Media Director manages all media interactions in Victoria, serving as a reference point for Territorial Leadership and Divisional Public Relation Secretaries. Based at Blackburn Headquarters, you will actively build and manage relationships with media outlets and act as the formal spokesperson for TSA – in support of raising financial resources to secure mission imperatives.

Additionally, you will plan and innovate for difficult, high impact issues that have serious implications for the organisation, and provide strategic advice regarding media involvement to TSA executive leadership.

This critical role demands a mature-minded professional with exceptional presentation skills, high-level  expertise in the identification of PR opportunities, plus a track record building and  sustaining valuable and dynamic media relationships.

A keen understanding around TSA’s climate and culture, along with a commitment to its mission, will be highly valued.
